Blindness, the leading cause of morbidity affects a million people worldwide with approximately 285 million people visually impaired : 39 million blind and 246 have low vision respectively. Approximately 15 – 18.6 million people in India are blind. States like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh have high blindness prevalence of about 2 percent and above. But the positive side of this is that 70% of this is preventable!
